Why us?
Join our fast-growing aerospace startup on an ambitious journey to redefine space transportation and hypersonic flight. At our headquarters in Bremen, we are developing breakthrough technologies that will shape the future of high-speed flight and access to space. As part of our passionate and multidisciplinary team, you will work at the frontier of innovation—where bold ideas turn into real systems.
If you are driven by curiosity, thrive in dynamic environments, and want to directly contribute to revolutionary aerospace systems, this is the place for you.
Your mission
As a
GNC Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, simulation, and implementation of advanced guidance, navigation, and control systems for next-generation drones, hypersonic vehicles, and spaceplanes. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Design and analysis of GNC subsystems for air-breathing UAVs, hypersonic gliders, and orbital spaceplanes.
- Trajectory simulation, optimization, and mission analysis for complex flight profiles.
- Development of nonlinear 6DOF flight dynamic models.
- Creation of mathematical models for physical subsystems (aerodynamics, sensors, actuators, propulsion).
- Flight control algorithm design, coding, and hardware-in-the-loop/testing implementation on flight control hardware.
- Support in the selection, integration, and verification of GNC sensors and components.
- Participation in ground and flight test campaigns, including test planning, execution, and data analysis.
Your profile
We are looking for an engineer who combines technical expertise with the drive and adaptability required in a startup environment:
- Several years of professional or research experience in flight dynamics, GNC, or related fields.
- Strong background in flight control theory, trajectory optimization, and dynamic system modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex research and engineering problems.
- Excellent analytical skills and a creative, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong programming skills (MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python) and modeling/simulation experience.
- Proficiency in English and German (spoken and written).
- Proactive, motivated, flexible, and resilient, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced startup environment where innovation and ownership drive impact.
What We Offer- The opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in space transportation and hypersonics.
- A high-impact role with direct involvement in the design, development, and testing of real aerospace systems.
- A dynamic and collaborative team culture that encourages innovation and personal growth.
- Flat hierarchies, short decision-making paths, and the chance to shape both projects and company direction.
- A workplace at the heart of Bremen’s aerospace hub.
Join us in shaping the future of space transportation and making a positive impact. Apply now by sending your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and why you are the ideal candidate for this role. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
About us
The German aerospace start-up POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH is developing a revolutionary reusable space launch and hypersonic transport system that operates like an aircraft.
Based on more than 30 years of German and European spaceplane research, the development of the spaceplane AURORA began at the German Aerospace Center DLR. Aurora combines aircraft and rocket launcher technologies with a unique vehicle design, and offers a game-changing economic viability as well as opening the door for routine low-cost and safe access to space.
In order to validate the technology and accelerate the spaceplane development, POLARIS has been developing a series of scaled flight demonstrators.
