Your mission
  • Strategic partnership development: Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with key players in the aerospace and defense industry, including government agencies, aerospace companies, research institutions, and potential cooperation partners
  • Market analysis and opportunity assessment: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify potential opportunities for growth, expansion, and diversification within the aerospace and defense sector. Evaluate market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform strategic decision-making
  • Client relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients. Understand their requirements, anticipate their needs, and provide tailored solutions to meet their objectives
  • Proposal development: Lead the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches for potential clients and partners. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between client requirements and company capabilities
  • Contract negotiation: Drive contract negotiation processes, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company while maintaining strong partnerships with clients and cooperation partners
  • Revenue generation: Generate and increase company revenues through effective business development strategies and sales initiatives. Identify new business opportunities and avenues for revenue generation within the aerospace industry
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product development, marketing, and finance, to align business development efforts with company objectives and priorities
  • Depending on your experience background, your mission could be extended to the Head of Business Development function; in this case you would become part of the company management team
Your profile
  • Proven track record of success in business development, sales, or related roles within the aerospace industry
  • In-depth understanding of the aerospace sector, including knowledge of key players, market trends, regulatory environment, and technological advancements
  • Strong network of contacts within the aerospace industry, including government agencies, aerospace companies, and research institutions
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Fluent in English and German, additional languages are a plus
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed

The German aerospace start-up POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH is developing a revolutionary reusable space launch and hypersonic transport system that operates like an aircraft. 

Based on more than 30 years of German and European spaceplane research, the development of the spaceplane AURORA began at the German Aerospace Center DLR. Aurora combines aircraft and rocket launcher technologies with a unique vehicle design, and offers a game-changing economic viability as well as opening the door for routine low-cost and safe access to space. 

In order to validate the technology and accelerate the spaceplane development, POLARIS has been developing a series of scaled flight demonstrators.
