Your mission

Design and develop turbopumps for LOX/RP1 rocket engines
Perform rotor dynamic, fluid dynamic, thermal, and structural analyses of turbopump components
Use CFD, FEA, and 1D system modelling tools for performance prediction and optimization
Work on shaft seals, bearings, and lubrication systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including propulsion, mechanical, and materials engineers, to integrate turbopump systems into the overall rocket engine design
Define and verify key performance parameters, such as flow rates, pressures, and efficiency, through simulation and testing
Oversee the testing and validation of turbopump components and systems to ensure compliance with aerospace standards

Your profile

Successfully completed aerospace or mechanical engineering degree (M.Sc./M.Eng.)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in turbopump design. Direct experience with LOX/RP1 systems is highly preferred
Extensive knowledge in turbomachinery, including pumps, turbines and their integration
Proficiency with CAD (Creo/Inventor) and CFD (ANSYS Fluent) software for design and verification
Work experience in a start-up environment is an advantage
Deep understanding of cryogenic fluids (e.g., LOX) and materials suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature environments
Familiarity with rocket propulsion systems and turbopump architecture
Hands-on experience in building and testing prototype pumps
Proactive thinking, high level of motivation, flexibility, and team-working skills
Proficiency in both German and English

The German aerospace start-up POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH is developing a revolutionary reusable space launch and hypersonic transport system that operates like an aircraft.

Based on more than 30 years of German and European spaceplane research, the development of the spaceplane AURORA began at the German Aerospace Center DLR. Aurora combines aircraft and rocket launcher technologies with a unique vehicle design, and offers a game-changing economic viability as well as opening the door for routine low-cost and safe access to space.

In order to validate the technology and accelerate the spaceplane development, POLARIS has been developing a series of scaled flight demonstrators.
